This black label, dog near top example was discovered around July 2012. The story behind this record is sketchy, but it goes something like this. A company producing gold framed records was contracted to produce A Valentine Gift For You; however, gold vinyl with a gold 50th Anniversary label would not provide the best visual effect. In response to this, RCA pressed a very low quantity with the black label, as to provide the company producing gold framed records the better contrast against the gold vinyl. Any remaining product not used for the gold framed records was sold through the retail channels as black label, dog near top with red vinyl. This example came with the “best buy” sticker on the shrink.4
