Artificial Intelligence (AI) Image Policy
ElvisRecords.com is dedicated to documenting, preserving, and presenting Elvis Presley records, memorabilia, advertising, and related historical material as accurately as possible.
As part of that work, Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools may be used to restore, repair, enhance, reconstruct, or create visual representations of images appearing on this website.
Image Restoration and Enhancement
Many of the images featured on ElvisRecords.com originate from material that is decades old. Original photographs, record sleeves, labels, advertisements, catalogs, and other printed materials may suffer from fading, discoloration, scratches, folds, stains, missing areas, poor printing, or low-resolution photography.
AI-assisted tools may be used to improve the presentation of these materials. This can include:
- Removing scratches, stains, folds, tears, or other damage
- Correcting fading, contrast, color, or exposure
- Sharpening or increasing the apparent resolution of an image
- Reconstructing small areas that are damaged or missing
- Improving the readability of deteriorated text
- Combining multiple reference images to produce a clearer representation
Every effort is made to retain the appearance and historical character of the original item.
However, AI systems sometimes interpret details rather than simply restoring them. Differences between an AI-enhanced image and the original artifact may therefore occur and are completely unintended. Small variations in lettering, colors, textures, positioning, faces, artwork, or other details should not automatically be considered characteristics of the original item.
Whenever possible, original photographs and other reference material are used to verify restored images.
AI-Modified and Reconstructed Images
In some cases, an image may require more extensive reconstruction. Portions of an object may be missing, damaged, obscured, or unavailable in sufficient quality.
AI may be used to create a reasonable visual reconstruction based on surviving photographs, known examples, related material, or other historical references.
These images are intended to help illustrate or document an item and should not be interpreted as photographic proof of details that cannot be verified from an original source.
AI-Generated Mockups and Illustrations
Occasionally, ElvisRecords.com may use AI to create a mockup, illustration, or visual representation of an item or historical situation for which an appropriate original photograph is unavailable.
Such images are intended for illustration only and are not presented as previously unknown historical photographs or original artifacts.
Image Identification
Images that have received AI assistance will be identified whenever appropriate using descriptions such as:
AI Enhanced — An original image that has received restoration, cleanup, sharpening, color, or similar improvements.
AI Modified — An original image that has received more substantial alterations, reconstruction, or replacement of damaged or missing elements.
AI Generated — An image or mockup created substantially or entirely with the assistance of artificial intelligence.
These notices may appear in an image caption, footnote, image description, or accompanying article text.
Historical Accuracy
AI-generated or AI-assisted images are not considered primary historical evidence by ElvisRecords.com.
Catalog numbers, label variations, typography, manufacturing details, dates, publishing information, and other identifying characteristics should be verified against original artifacts, contemporary documentation, or other reliable sources whenever those details are important.
If an AI-assisted image contains an error or differs from an original item, we welcome corrections and, when possible, will revise the image or provide additional clarification.
Our Purpose
The purpose of using AI at ElvisRecords.com is not to rewrite history or create nonexistent collectibles. It is another tool for helping preserve, restore, illustrate, and share material that might otherwise be difficult to view because of age, damage, rarity, or poor surviving source images.
Preservation and historical accuracy remain the goal.
