This is not an official RCA release — it is a fantasy sleeve, likely fabricated after the fact. A few examples of it—varying in condition, image quality, paper stock, and text placement—can be found on Popsike. However, their inconsistencies and lack of documentation raise serious doubts about the authenticity of any of them. Based on the following observations, this appears to be a fake or unauthorized reproduction:

  • Incorrect layout conventions: Sleeves from this era consistently show “45 RPM” above the catalog number. This one does not.
  • Improper RCA Victor logo: The RCA Victor box is incorrectly proportioned, poorly spaced, and visibly cut off — all signs of inauthentic printing.
  • Font and spacing issues: The words “RCA Victor” are too tightly kerned, unlike genuine releases.
  • Missing production credit: The phrase “A Hal Wallis Production” is absent. This credit appears on all other legitimate Roustabout materials and Elvis movie releases of the period.
  • Design flaw: There is no plausible scenario in which RCA would approve a large hole punched directly over Elvis’s image — it’s inconsistent with their branding practices.
  • Contradictory packaging logic: If there truly existed a printed envelope with text to house a generic RCA sleeve and record, why would there also be a printed picture sleeve? The logic doesn’t hold.

Cover: picture sleeve front and back. One in color another in black and white. My interpretation of a more logical sleeve, based on the characteristics outlined in the notes above. This is compared to and based on SP-45-162, SP-45-118, SP-45-76, and regular issues of that era.
