Every phonograph record was manufactured at a pressing plant, and many record companies operated multiple facilities or contracted production to outside manufacturers. RCA was no different. As a result, the same release can often be found in several variations, each containing clues that reveal where and sometimes when it was produced.
Many pressing plants can be identified through label typography, plant codes, pressing rings, matrix numbers, and markings found in the trail-off area.
