The cover has an uncorrected error. On the back of the cover, side 2 track 2 is listed as Jesus Knows What I Need. It appears that more LONG PLAY pressings has this title on the label than the corrected title of He Knows Just What I Need. It also appears that the title correction occurred at the same time as the credits correction for tracks 2 and 3 on side 1 on the vinyl labels. A LABEL CORRECTION notice was issued 2/17/19612 which detailed two changes: JESUS KNOWS WHAT I NEED to HE KNOWS JUST WHAT I NEED and IN MY FATHER’S HOUSE (Arr. and Adpated: Elvis Presley) to IN MY FATHER’S HOUSE (Are Many Mansions) (Aileene Hanks).

Disc: (9/1975) Orange label. (mockup)

Some collectors contend that this would be Elvis’ final single pressed with the orange label. No copy has ever surfaced, been documented, or confirmed to exist. This would be a Hollywood pressing. It has been documented that while the Indianapolis pressing plant began using tan labels, the Hollywood plant would continue using orange labels until its closing in early 1976. There is an anomaly that shatters this belief, the March 1976 release of Hurt / For the Heart, where a copy is documented on this site with tan labels and pressed at the Hollywood plant. With Bringing It Back peaking at number 65 on the Billboard Hot 100 and Pieces of My Life peaking at number 33 on the Billboard Country chart, the demand for this single was weak and may not have warranted a Hollywood pressing.

The America the Beautiful title is considerably rarer than the America title. It has long been believed that the America the Beautiful title printed on the sleeve and single is in error, where the America title is correct. The thought was the America the Beautiful was quickly changed to America. However, recent evidence indicates otherwise. The America the Beautiful lyrics were written by Katharine Lee Bates and was first published as a poem in 1895 with the title America. In 1910, the title changed to America the Beautiful when Samuel A. Ward’s music was combined with Bates poem.5 Further investigation reveals the official RECORDING INFORMATION worksheet6 for the song America the Beautiful. The vocalists Kathy Westmoreland, J.D. Sumner and the Stamps, The Sweet Inspirations, and Sherrill Nielsen are listed. On the bottom of the sheet, the note ADD: VOCALISTS ABOVE ON FUTURE RUNS:. On that note alone, it can be derived that the earlier runs do not contain the vocalists and that the later runs do. This would then take the transition of America to America the Beautiful to America the Beautiful with vocalists credited on the label. To find a copy of America the Beautiful with vocalists credited is the most difficult to find of the variations. The flip side, My Way debuted on the Billboard Pop charts on November 12, 1977 and remained on the charts for 12 weeks, and peaked at number 22.7 The America the Beautiful must have been introduced no earlier than late November.
